Thank You for making the LIAFO Foundation 24th Annual LIAFO Golf Outing a success!
The LIAFO Foundation was formed by the membership of the Long Island Association Of Football Officials for the purpose of promoting a broader and deeper appreciation of the significance of teamwork in high school athletics.
The foundation will provide recognition to a varsity football players in High School within Section VIII, Nassau County, New York who are the most dedicated and overachieving players who normally have little playing time. These are the players whose participation requires personal sacrifice normally with little recognition but without whom there would be no team. These are our UNSUNG HERO'S.
The Foundation will solicit and use charitable funds to provide a recognition plaque to one player from each school who was nominated by the Head Coach. In addition, a one year monetary "UNSUNG HERO" scholarship award will be made to four of those nominated.
The Foundation is a Type B Corporation under Section 201(a) of the New York State Not-For-Profit Corporation Law. The Corporation is recognized by the IRS as a publicly supported organization described in sections 509 (a) (1) and 170{B} (1) (A)(vi) with an exemption as described in section 501©(3). The Corporation also holds an exempt Certificate ST-119 from New York State.
The current primary fund raising event is the "Unsung Hero" golf outing which is held annually at the North Shore Towers and Country Club during the summer. The 2011 Unsung Hero Golf Outing has passed. Further information about this event can be obtained by downloading the flyer or contacting Jim Anderson by email. A contribution can be made year-round by contacting Jim.
